So basically, I don't want to use a proxy for Steam. I always by my games from my native Steam Store. I don't want my Steam account banned by accident. Microsoft Edge is the browser recommended by Microsoft. The same Internet Explorer 11 apps and sites you use today can open in Microsoft Edge with IE Mode. Internet Explorer will be retired and go out of support on June 15, 2022. A simple mistake as leaving IE's proxy settings on, by accident, could lead to unwanted, but serious consequences as to having my +660 Steam Games account banned. I don't think it's that difficult to make the Steam client ignore IE's proxy settings permanently. Not only is it against the Terms of Service of VALVe to use a proxy I am unwillingly forced using a proxy service. ![]() The proxy offers a slower download speed too, so downloads take much longer.įor the sake of not having to disable proxy settings every time in Internet Explorer, I would like to see the Steam Client modified. Since there is no possibility to stop the client using these settings, it is costing me precious bandwidth and I arrive at the download limit of my paid proxy service way too soon. (Proxy settings are not used for logging in). The Steam Client uses Internet Explorer proxy settings for browsing the Community Market, Steam Store and for downloading games.
